Cloth Pad Info

What are Cloth Menstrual Pads?

Cloth menstrual pads are a fabric, reusable alternative to disposable menstrual pads. They are used in the same as disposable pads, except when you have used them, they are washed so they can be used again.

Why use Cloth Menstrual Pads?

With good care Cloth Menstrual Pads can last many years, saving you money and reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill. Cloth pads are free of the bleaches and chemicals used to make disposables so no risk of irritation making them a much healthier and more comfortable option. You will also find that they absorb more than disposables.

How do you look after the pads?

After you have used your pads you can rinse them in cold water and allow them to soak in cold water until you are ready to wash them. You don't have to soak them but doing so will help reduce the chance of staining. Your pads should be washed at 30 degrees without fabric conditioners. Using fabric conditioners can leave an oily residue on the fabrics and this reduces the absorbency of the pads. Always air dry your pads line drying in the sun is best to reduce stains or on an airer in the house is just fine. We will pop a small leaflet in with your order so you have care instruction on hand.

What are the different shape options available?

We understand that people come in different shapes and sizes and so our cloth pads do too.

How wide are the pads when they are snapped shut?

What are the pads made from?

Lady Days has more than 10 Years experience in making reusable menstrual products. Over this time, and from the knowledge we have gained about fabrics, we have developed our pads to be one of the best hand made pads in the U.K.

We have built some amazing relationships with suppliers in the U.K. and around the world to be able to make our pads from only the highest quality, ethically sourced fabrics.

Top fabric options.
Woven cotton, cotton jersey, cotton velour and bamboo velour.

Core fabrics.
The core fabric and combination used on a specific pad will depend on its absorbency, but the fabrics we use for cores are, organic cotton fleece, organic cotton and bamboo fleece and Zorb.

Backing fabric.
We use windpro fleece as standard to back our pads. It is a far superior fleece compared to polar fleece with amazing water resistant properties.

How do I place a custom order?

Below we have made a short demo video of how to order a custom made pad. Using the main menu, select the cloth pad custom order section. Once you are in the right section you can start your order by selecting which amazing fabric you would like us to use for your epic pad

By using the drop down menus you can select the style, size and absorbency you require. Please be aware that not all styles are available in all sizes and absorbencies, you will be shown the SOLD OUT button if your selection is not supported. See above table for available standard range.

If you would like something not supported in the custom order section, contact us and we will do our best to make it happen.

What are Core Drops?

You will notice that when selecting your custom made pad, you have to select "without core drops" or "with core drops"

These core drops are embroidered onto the centre of the pad and are to help aid the pad absorb blood quickly into the core fabrics. Some of our customers find this useful if they have a very heavy flow. We like to give you the option for a fully customizable experience. The amount of core drops on a pad also corresponds to the absorbency level of the pad, for e.g 1 drop - liner/light, 2 drops - regular etc.

Which way up do you wear the pads?

This is a very important question, all our pads are worn with the fleece side down so you will bleed on the "pretty" side.

Are reusable cloth pads suitable for incontinence?

All of our pads are suitable for light to moderate incontinence however they will require a special waterproof fleece backing. Let us know when ordering by using the message box. If you are unsure, please contact us to discuss your needs.

How many cloth pads do I need?

This differs for each person. You may use between 2 and 5 pads per day depending on your flow. 10 to 15 pads is a good place to start, you can use them alongside disposables until you have enough cloth pads to last you a full cycle.

Which cloth pads are suitable for teens?

Our pads are suitable for all ages however, for teens and petite people, we recommend starting with the Lite and Lithe style. These styles have a narrow gusset width which can be more favourable for teens. If the gusset of the underwear is wide we would recommend trying the Linear style.

When will I receive my custom made cloth pad?

Custom made items are generally ready to ship within 2-4 weeks however we always endeavour to have your items with you as soon as possible and in some cases are ready to ship in a couple of days.

If you have any other questions please contact us, we will do our best to answer them.
